For my 21st later this year, I’m thinking of taking off and going backpacking for a month (4weeks). I live in Australia and want to visit USA, Canada, Asia maybe, Europe & England.

How much money would I need to do this? au$

Best answer:

Answer by Allow M
A month for three different continents? That is probably three to six months for a start.

You need to add up airfares. work out how many days per country and estimate a regular rate for food and lodging and add in internal travel an admusements.

Rough estimate – airfare $ 2000- $ 4000, $ 100 a day regular rate. You would need about 10 grand.

Answer by SUE
Yeah. It’s called the International Youth Hostels. They have a website. If I remember correctly, you purchase your card at the first hostel, and you purchase a sheet bag, and use it each night.

The International Hostels are the best, they are cheap, clean, and safe. People have to help with housekeeping, and since everyone is pretty much doing the same thing, there’s tons of sharing, of time, ideas, often people hook up for a few days as travel buddies, people change plans to hang together for a few days. People give ideas of what to do, where to go.
